Chi-town

I am back in the land of Lincoln and can this time officially call myself a Chicagoan!

Yes that is correct I live on the north side of the city near Lincoln Park and I absolutely LOVE it! I am not sure why I had been avoiding living in this glorious city for so long since I have been in love with it from my first visit as a child!

At any rate I am an official city resident and love it. What better than to look out over the skyline from your apartment window and be downtown in 5 minutes on the train. Not to mention the nice 20-30 minute walk to downtown from my apartment (depends who is walking with me!)

For now...this is where I belong and I am totally excited to call it HOME!

A New Post

After a long break from the blogging world I have decided that it would be nice to update family and friends on my life etc. so beware of the many posts that are sure to follow!

an ode to my love

Florida was once my permanent home and now has become a second home

it is a pleasure to be welcomed back to the state of hurricanes, fires, tornados, torrential downpours, etc.

but then there is the sun, beach, and all of the wonderful foliage that I do most enjoy

oh florida how I do love thee

Easter

Easter Weekend has always been my favorite church holiday weekend
it is usually filled with lots of contemplation about my sins and the fact that the one person who was blameless was actually killed to pay for my sins and the sins of the whole world.
I attended the most meaningful Easter Service yet
I really enjoy the sunrise service especially when it is in a cemetary however the service I am about to explain was incredible and meaningful and just make me and the people around me think deeply

The service began in a dark procession from the entry way to the theatre. When we arrived in the theatre is was completely dark and we all made our way to seats. Brad and I walked in together and sat next to the girls coats (they were helping with the service and one of the priviledge to arrive early and put their coats on seats). The service began with a family being baptized in the complete darkness of the theatre. It was amazing to see this young family of a husband, wife, and little baby all being baptized together and then to hear how the parents are not just going to be baptized but that they are actually searching anddiving into the bible daily to figure out what God is all about-it sends goose bumps down my spine just remembering it.
So after this amazing beginning to the service and remembrance of my own baptism and the fact that God has called each of us to be his children and to be with him for eternity the music begins

They take the black cloth down from the cross and place flowers of white on the cross (last week we nailed the things to the cross that were keeping us back from trusting God whole-heartedly.

The music was amazing and then Pastor began to preach-he talked about Easter and what it means in a Christians life. He talked about how we as Christians should remember Easter every day of our lives because in an essence that is what being a Christian is all about. remembering that no matter how much we screw up things or our lives that we have been forgiven by the sacrificial lamb. The one person who was sinless and blameless died that we might live forever. To really ponder this is an amazing concept. We sin all the time and yet we are the ones who get the forgiveness-we are the ones who don't have to suffer and die the painful death. All I can say is amazing love that God has for us and through Jesus we have been given the best gift of all-eternal life!

Jesus is Risen! tell the world that he lives and that now you can too forever!

life as a beach bum

i am fairly certain that i can fall back into the beach bum life styles very easily

today has been the best day that was mixed with both beach (the amazing sun rise)
and also work

yes i am one of the few people who actually takes along their work for vacation.

but if it doesn't get done then all the internship tears will have been in vain and that is just silly talk

Boca has been amazing

Erin has amazing friends

the beach

and the warm sun

plus it has been great just to be within the same proximity for a while

friends are so important to community and community is what God calls us to participate in
